Three cooks laughing in an open kitchenFresh bread and pastries on the counter

Since2014

Ma'ida means “the table”

Six tables and a promise

Sara grew up in her grandmother's kitchen in Salt; Omar spent ten years in hotel kitchens from Aqaba to Dubai. In 2014 they rented a corner house on Paris Circle, painted the walls white, hung the red-and-white tablecloths and opened at seven in the morning.

The idea has not changed since: one kitchen that cooks all day, for everyone. Students come for breakfast, offices for lunch, families for Friday brunch and couples for dinner on the terrace.

We cook from scratch, buy from farmers we know by name and change the specials every week. If you have a favourite that left the menu, ask; the kitchen usually remembers.

From the first loaf to the last coffee

A day at Ma'ida

07:00

Bread arrives

Warm loaves from across the street, the first espresso and shakshuka on the stove.

12:00

The lunch rush

Bowls, wraps and kofta off the charcoal, quick enough for a working lunch.

17:00

Lights down

The grill heats up, the terrace lights come on and the dinner menu begins.

23:00

Last coffee

One more slice of cake, a pour-over for the road, and we set the tables for tomorrow.
